For the third year in a row a vessel from Canfornav’s fleet has been the first ”Saltie” to call the Port of Toronto for the 2011 Great Lakes shipping season. 

Built in 2009, the M/V Tundra is one of the most recent additions to our 30,000MT DWT new building program.  Please see the Toronto Port Authority press release here.

Ducks Unlimited

As part of our continued commitment to environmental protection, Canfornav is pleased to provide an update on our support of Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) who are actively involved in protecting our disappearing wetlands.  In July 2010, our President Michael Hagn presented a cheque for $ 400,000.00 to the Quebec division of DUC.

Green Marine - News Flash

Canfonav is pleased to announce the receipt of our Green Marine certification for a second year in a row.  Furthermore, our achievement levels were higher than those for 2008 as we continue to improve on our Environmental Management Program,  both through research and implementation of new directives fleet-wide .  Our program for the 2009 - 2010 period underwent a third party verification audit by Lloyd’s.  For a copy of their executive summary on our program, please click here.

M/V Brant - First Saltie in Toronto - 2010

Following 149 years of tradition, the port feted the arrival of M/V Brant as the first “saltie” to call Toronto in 2010.  The Master was presented with a 182 year old top hat as part of the Port Authority’s Beaver Top Hat ceremony.

Built in 2008, she is one of the first 30,000DWT vessels delivered in Canfornav’s recent new building program.  She is suitable for servicing Great Lakes ports as well as worldwide destinations.

Canfornav is pleased to announce the successful completion of a third party audit conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance in order to verify the performance indicators claimed in our evaluation for the year 2009.  Very positive feedback was received in all areas, Aquatic Invasive Species, Pollutant Air Emissions (SOx & NOx), Greenhouse Gasses, Cargo Residues and Oily Waters.  We reiterate our commitment to this extremely important program that challenges us to reduce the environmental footprint of our vessels.

M/V Andean has arrived in Seven Islands on her first voyage to Canada. The Andean is one of the latest vessels to be delivered in our series of new buildings.
